In a world that can sometimes be disconnected, Whaam Concepts values human connections, so we were thrilled to take part in the time-honoured tradition of answering the phone. When we said:” How can we save your day”, we heard the founders of the Mielie Meal asking for our help. The fast-food franchise needed a Cape Town mall kiosk, from which they could serve their delicious snack.
They were unhappy with their previous mall kiosk and wanted their Cape Town presence to impress, so they turned to the SuperTeam to solve some of their problems: swelling wood, inefficient layout, ineffective storage solutions and issues with their current flooring were among the few things that needed improving.
Whaam had done kiosks before and were excited to start a journey with Mielie Meal. After the clients flew in to see us, we met and started designing coming up with ingenious ideas to get various elements sorted, as well as improving on the design of the previous mall kiosk. Whaam suggested small yet effective changes to the food kiosk that would greatly improve functionality. We Increased the height, created a large curved back wall for logos and slogans, implemented the use of solid surfaces and rubber flooring as well as the addition of functional seating with storage in the seats.
The new design saw a more squared out unit, for flow and function that would change the way the food was served, giving the experience an open inviting feel. All involved were satisfied with how the Cape Town mall kiosk turned out.
This was a large undertaking and a challenging build. There were many moving parts for design and production, and there were more than a few tricky situations that Whaam and Mielie Meal had to circumvent. But, we did it together and the kiosk turned out beautifully! Whaam Concepts looks forward to assisting Mielie Meal in whatever comes next, as this popular venture continues to grow.
